Food Advice Please

I have been feeding my cats gourmet cat food and purina one biscuits for the past couple of years, but since joining up i have read that you should make sure that the wet food is a complete food and not a complementary one. I have just checked the gourmet one and this is only a complementary food
Does this mean they are missing out on vitamins and nutrients?

I give them both a pouch in the morning and one in the evening and i leave biscuits down in the day.
Can anyone suggest any good food to try them on? Boris is a fussy eater. Tootsie not so fussy.

Thanks

Re: Food Advice Please

Is the purina biscuit a complete food? If so, they will be getting their nutrients that way.

I just checked and it says so yes, is it best to give a complete wet food as well though?
Thanks xx

nope what your feeding should be fine,as the complete dry contains all they need, the meat is just a tasty extra.

Re: Food Advice Please

I think everyone has different ideas to be honest.

Some of my cats are fed purely on Royal Canin biscuit and we will be introducing raw to complement their dry diet.

The others have the RC biscuit and then have whiskas pouches because they don't like any other wet food.

If your cat is happy and thriving then I wouldn't worry but if you would like to change the wet food, ensure it has as high a meat content as possible so something such as applaws or natures menu or hi life...I think they are all pretty good. You can also give something like raw mince or raw lamb eery so often.

Ok thanks, good to hear that is right, they look very healthy their teeth and coats look well, i might try one of the complete wet foods and just give them one pouch a day of that and one of the gourmet and stick with the same dry food. xx

Re: Food Advice Please

Only you know your cats well enough to decide whether they need anything extra or not. It sounds to me like you are feeding them well already....mine have constantly got food down and yet they still stick their noses in the bin if they think I'm not looking!

Mine try and swipe the kid's toast and yoghurts and I caught them eating crisps this morning!!

I only thought dogs did that sort of thing but it looks as though cats are just as bad!
