Worms?

When scooping the litter tray I have twice in the last few days noticed some worm looking things in Eric's poop however when I googled what the worms in poop look like (didn't make pleasurable viewing!) the worms were white, these are brown/black and look like thin string.

He was given his regular dose of Droncit about a fortnight ago too and doesn't go outside so I'm a bit confused!! I've got some more in the cupboard so could re-dose if necessary.

Any advice?

Im not sure but I think Droncit only treats tapeworms so you might be better getting him Drontal

Re: Worms?

I know we use drontal on ours but i think i can remember someone saying 'a' wormer dont do certain worms,

On a separate note without being too yuckie, are they def wormy things.

Poor eric!

Just googled brown worm this is what come up on there

"Roundworms in Cats (toxascaris leonina and toxocara cati, ascarid): This is a common intestinal parasite of cats. Adult roundworms are white or brown in color and are several inches long. You may notice them in your cat’s stool or vomit. Symptoms of roundworms include weight loss and a “potbellied” appearance."

Re: Worms?

I've given him a Drontal. To be honest I'm not too sure whether he had them, there were definitely stringy looking things in his poop. He hasn't been eating more, had diarrhoea or anything. Certainly isn't pot-bellied so will hopefully be fine now! I wish there was a proper spot on as tablets, pastes and powder doesn't seem to be very easy to give him. He finds the tablet like a needle in a haystack!

I guess you could have taken some of the suspect poop to the vet to be analysed for parasites - might have saved you some unnecessary worming.

Re: Worms?

Had absolutely no luck with the tablets grrr. I had a look in his poop and can't see anything though which is good. I've ordered some of the panacur paste for next time, will hopefully have more luck with that! I'm hoping I can just put a blob on his paw and he will have to lick it of muhahaha! Does it taste of anything? I think you give a couple of syringes over a few days??
