There was hushed up case with IAMs a number of years ago too. They put a rubber preservative called Ethoxequin (sp?) in their dry food, cause no end of problems. A large US dog breeder took them to court and it was settled outside on the quiet for an undisclosed sum. Hills used the same preservative in their foods.

Just adds more weight to a fresh diet, because only then do you know exactly what is going into your pets food.

Top marks to him, an excellent marketing strategy!
Why would he bother when alot of people on here have already said they want to change to the applaws dry anyway? xx if noone was buying the food i could understand it lol xx

anyway, swings and roundabouts really, the main thing is that we have some warning on the food problem xx

To be honest MPM will not lose a bean. It is just a good marketing ploy on the back of a scare story. I would assume given the normal markups in the pet food industry that they for every bag that is given away they would only have to sell half a bag to recoup the cost (that's based on breeders prices). Orijen is better than most of the dry foods out there (not than I feed dry) and to scare UK based feeders in my opinion is wrong.

Re: Orijen Scare

I think we can all safely say you are never going to please everyone.

I think that despite all the negative comments MPM have made a generous offer when they didn't need to do anything.

Yes they may get some extra buisness out of it - but how many people have been on this forum and others praising their new food after they had completed their trial of it.
It sold out at the supreme so obviously people want to buy it and are happy to be using it.

All I have done is to alert people to a problem - which was already widely publicised on other pet forums - and give them the details of a company who were willing to offer their product FREE OF CHARGE in exchange for the other food concerned. This offer was open to anyone who had concerns about the continued feeding of Orijen and for those who were not concerned then they need not take up the offer.

Anyway I am going to get off my soapbox now and leave this conversation.

We are all entitled to our own thoughts and opinions - which is clear to see - so let us leave it there.

Thank you xx

I would rather know of a problem, even if it is only a small possibility of it affecting things over here so I think you were well within your rights to let people know xx
