Wink FIV and Feline Leukemia

What would you recommend for a cat to eat with FIV and Feline Leukemia. I'm new to this and would appreciate any advice. He's 10 months old. I want to feed him what's best.
Thank you

Re: FIV and Feline Leukemia

I recently lost my old girl Jess to fiv. I didnt know she had it until a blood test to determine weight loss showed it up. She wasnt the usual candidate for the disease. She was suffering from IBD at the time. She went off her usual foods and she took to eating raw chicken (breast) and minced beef. It sorted the IBD out and her coat condition started to improve. If things had been different and I had more time with her then I would have progressed onto a mainly raw diet, after reading such good things about it on here but my knowledge is very limited on the subject. I would actually like more information about fiv and diet having 3 other cats at home which possibly have the disease.

Re: FIV and Feline Leukemia

Just feed a good quality cat food.

It is questionable whether feeding raw to cats with FIV is a good idea. Some argue (and your vet will probably tell you) not to feed raw as the potentially high levels of bacteria can cause bowel infections. Other people argue that, provided the raw food is stored and fed correctly, there are more bacteria in manufactured cat food. You would have to do some reading for yourself and decide what you think as there is no proper research.

As with any cat, try to avoid dry foods.

And good for you for taking on this cat, i hope you have many happy years together
