My old moggie at vet's later

Barney has been on Felimazole since August for hyperthyroidism and was checked about a month ago (blood test and T4). He's on 1 pill a day. But recently he's been wanting to be on his own and he spends all day and all night tucked away in the bedroom. He comes for his food twice a day as usual but does not want to hang around with us downstairs, or go in the garden at all, in fact he howls to be allowed back to his nest upstairs. He used to be very happy to socialise so this is a concern.

Also I weighed him a few days ago and he's gone from around 4.1 kgs (been this weight for ages), to 3.6kgs - a significant weight loss. So I've been encouraging him to stay with us downstairs more, and giving him lots more attention and cuddles, and with some encouragement he's eating more food. His teeth may be causing him pain but also I think he's depressed. Certainly he will eat a lot if persuaded, it just that he seems to give up easily and want to go back to bed. This morning he ate nearly 150g of raw minced rabbit, so he's obviously hungry and even if his teeth are hurting him he really went for it!

Hope we can make him more comfortable. Last time we had a cat with dramatic weight loss it was the c-word....really hope it's not that

Fingers crossed it goes alright. Perhaps his meds just need adjusting a little.

How dare youIf I could see the "scales" clearly and the arthritis in my fingers didnt make hitting the right keys so difficult I would give you a "red rep" for that remark, but with my luck I'd hit the wrong one and give you a green one instead

Hobbs would laugh at that reply, but I hear her continence isn't what it used to be so she had best not.....

Perfect riposte PP; if I could laugh without wetting my pants you would have to turn your hearing aid down a notch or two

Re: My old moggie at vet's later

Awww, poor sausage. Hopefully it's just a tweak he needs. Misi lost a lot of weight between Christmas and now and has been through the mill, but is fine now. Sometimes they just find it hard to maintain weight when they get older. Hope he's okay. Glad he's enjoying his mince!!
