Re: 13 year old cat with teeth problems

OUCH!!!! poor paws, at least she has an obvious problem so hopefully wont be under for long. Simba's scale & polish was £200 that included his blood test though.

Re: 13 year old cat with teeth problems

Poor Gemma, that exposed root would be very painful indeed.

Did the vet comment on her pale gums? This combined with the increased urination suggests to me she may also have kidney problems since anaemia is also a symptom. I'm also wondering about her heart murmur-have the vets suggested a cause? Believe it's important to know what's causing it as if it's due to a heart problem ( a lot of murmurs are ) it may well be treatable.

Good luck with the dental!

You are most welcome. I am wishing Gemma a successful dental treatment, and lovely life free of dental pain. xxx

Re: 13 year old cat with teeth problems

Aww, I hope she's OK, fingers crossed for her, poor thing

I'm taking my OAP Barney to the vet tomorrow for a similar thing. He's 18, hyper-thyroid, has bad teeth and although he's been stable for about 3 months he's recently lost a lot of weight and he's drinking a lot. The poor old lad is really starting to look his age, so I hope we can make him more comfortable.

Re: 13 year old cat with teeth problems

sorry for not updating sooner. She's fine, went through the op fine. Had two teeth extracted (obviously the root and exposed nerve), and descaled the other few left. She's eating like a horse since she got home. And she was playing last night, rolling around the floor and gently patting my hand. She obviously feels more comfortable.

it iseven better! they over chargerd me by £24 so told themto keep me in credit!

CAN only imagine that the vet is doing me a few favours as he knows Billy is not insurance - the last time I had his teeth removed and scaledit was around £180 . the same vet had around 6k (plus and 5k for cambridge and cheshire) for my misty and she still died! so dunno how all of a sudden he has got so cheap! AND!! I know he adores Billy because he is so soft - he calls him my (his) billykins
