I take my kittens' stitches out myself after they're spayed at 13 weeks. The vet tells me he uses dissolvable sutures but they certainly don't dissolve very quickly - I remove them after 8 or 9 days as I don't want the kits going to new homes with stitches still in! However they quite often get "removed" a lot sooner, either by kitten or a "helper"......... have seen them removed within 48hrs and it never seems to cause a problem - just goes to show how quickly they heal at that age.
and yes I've seen a few "lumps" post spaying but they have always disappeared fairly quickly.

Same here! Hurray! Just some swelling and the stitches should dissolve or fall out soon. I'm so relieved.

Kozykatz - I'm surprised hers are still in, Hugo's had a good go at removing them!
