Breed specific foods - gimmic?

Hi,
What is the general concensus on these? Are they a un-necessary gimmic?

Is there really any benefit in a specific British Shorthair or Persian food?

Surely the important factors are the meat/protein levels? ... or am I wrong. Do they have their benefits?

Sheer gimmick

As you say, what is in the food is more important and that is the same regardless of breed.

I have always been intrigued by these "specific" foods. What do you do if you have a male BSH, who is neutered, indoors, 2 years old, active but tending towards a paunch. Do you buy the foods for each of these and just mix them up? Well, I actually have heard of people doing something like that ...

In all fairness though, the size of the kibble is different at times but then again, we don't feed kibble, do we?

I don't, I would be planning to go on to trusty Animonda and Smilla ...eventually

Thanks Hobbs x
