Can anyone please give me some good pet insurance companies, that the policy will start stright away etc.

I have looked and apparently no insurance company will cover dental either is this correct???

i dont have a cat but some of my dogs are with these ....Pet Insurance | Pet Insurance for Cats, Dogs & Horses | Animal Friends i found their on going cover the most reasonable, ive never had to claim (touch wood) so cant say how good they are at paying out, but they give loads to fab animal charities so thats a bonus

i could be wrong but i think you have to wait a couple of weeks for any insurance policy to cover.

As far as I'm aware no insurace company starts straight away,they all have a 14 day exclusion period before a claim can be made for illness,some I think will cover accident in the first 14 days.I'm with Pet Plan and they cover dental work providing a dental check is carried out yearly.Have a look at this link,compiled by Albert Ross a member on the forum Pet Insurance. Vets Medicover and M&S cover dental care, as well as Pet Plan. However, as far as I am aware they all have a 14day exclusion period when you take out the policy.

With VMC, you have to ensure that the cat has had their teeth checked at their annual check up (and the vet makes a note of this) and that you have done any suggested work. If this is done you are covered for dental works including accidents.

I suspect M&S and Pet Plan have a similar policy but you must read each insurance policy as they are all slightly different in what they want you to do.

Pet plan seem to cover as our older cat had a hole in tooth seen to a couple of months back and we just paid for the excess. Ours are all on 'cover for life' ultimate plan so not sure about the other plans they do for felines.

As long as there isn't any pre existing illness, condition, should be fine, I registered our new kitten a few weeks back. Not sure if it starts immediately though, as others have said, might be the '14 day period'- are you anticipating something for your feline?

My pet plan policy definitely does.That was one of the reasons I went with them

mine too, we have been able to claim for the yearly dental check, scale and polish and when older one had some work done as said. They are good and well worth the extra pennies.

Nanuqs with them, been with them since she was 12 weeks and shes now 2yrs 9mths, At first my vets said they wouldnt accept direct payment they were slow etc etc and I thought what have I done. However they have been terrific, never refused a claim or haggled. Even Nanuqs brain scan that came to over 1600. They paid for hip Xrays when she was spayed because we though she had hip dysplasia because she has an awful rear gait. Since 2 yrs
shes been hypo thyroid and needs blood tests every 3mths plus the meds, and they pay within a week of getting the form and pay it direct into my bank too. So all in all they have been terrific. I have got the top cover Life time cover £6000 per illness or injury per year and its re-instated in full each and every policy year as long as you renew.

Plus some vets will deal with Petplan themselves for a claim, so you don't have to pay then wait to claim it back. Maybe ask your vet what they suggest
