Trying to get some good cat food but failing due to shipping prices!!

Hi All, pretty much what the title says...i am looking to try out some good cat food as ive heard so much great stuff about Animonda Carny from Zooplus and thought i would go on and order some.....i nearly had a heart attack when i went to put in the country i was from regarding shipping fees ( Northern Ireland ) and it came up as £7.90! So altogether for 6 tins of Animonda Carny beef and chicken plus shipping to here = £12.17. Now whats funny is Northern Ireland is part of the UK ( UK shipping price is only £2.90 ) I was just somewhat annoyed....can any kind people out there help me out with any thoughts/ideas on where i can buy from without these crazy shipping fees?

many thanks

If they use a courier I'm afraid it does cost extra. If you can find anyone who uses Parcelforce then it should cost the same as the rest of the UK.

UK shipping on Zooplus is free for orders over £19, why don't you try adding more than £19 worth of food to your basket and see what happens? I don't understand why you should be paying more for shipping to NI - as you say you are part of the UK - even Royal Mail charge UK postage fees to NI. Zooplus uses Parcel Force International to ship to me, maybe it's their charge?

I like Mutley and Mog (though they haven't yet managed to stock Animonda they are trying to get it), they are based in Glasgow and have Bozita, Hi Life, Nature's Menu etc. Their shipping is £4.50 and I think that's for any size order (I've ordered over £30 worth of food and it's been £4.50).

Zooplus have always used Parcel Force for my deliveries so I don't get it?

That's weird then. Couriers can charge as they please but Parcelforce have tended to stick to RM protocols. My MIL is in NI and I send her a Harrod's hamper every Christmas. I'm not charged any extra for delivery but I can't specify a date because it goes Parcelforce rather than other private courier.

Re: Trying to get some good cat food but failing due to shipping prices!!

I've just read its because i am not mainland UK....anywhere thats within the mainland i,e Scotland, wales and England but since there is that little tiny bit of water between us its an extra £5!
I only wanted to get the 6 tins as my cats can be very fussy and this is new food to them so i thought by trying the 6 tins it would save me from buying more and throwing them all out.
Anyone know of somewhere that i can get this food without the crazy shipping fees to NI?

Hi Dante, lol yes i did realise there was one in Ireland and the shipping to here is pretty much the same as im NOW considered in the UK as im in northern Ireland and not in the republic of ireland....now can you see my sitution?
Shipping from the zooplus.ie site is €7.90 which works out at £6.80...just for shipping. I'm guessing i'll have to stick with the petstore wet and dry food

Oh bloomin' heck, what a pain in the backside! I thought regardless of being in NI rather than the Republic, the shipping would stay the same. Useless!
Sorry I couldn't be of any help
