Ethylene Glycol (anti-freeze) ... please help

Hello, my cat may have ingested a small amount of anti-freeze late Wednesday night / early Thursday morning which contains ethylene glycol. Yesterday she threw up about about six times but other than that she seems fine. (I know that sounds strange, but my point is that she does not seem to be showing any other signs of ethylene glycol poisoning such as dizziness, lethargy, etc.)

When I put her food out this morning she went right to it and ate it ... that has to be a good sign, right? (Since I've read that one of the symptoms of anti-freeze poisoning is food avoidance.)

I will be taking her to the vet after work today but if anyone has any experience with this issue please let me know. Thank you!

What makes you think she may have ingested Antifreeze and how sure are you?

The effects aren't instant, if you have reason to suspect antifreeze poisoning it is crucial she gets to the vets as soon as possible and has blood tests to asses renal function. Only these will be able to give an indication as whether any damage has been done.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you both.

Are you absolutely sure she ingested it on Wednesday?

I certainly wouldn't be taking any chances with this and would have her at the vets now. Have you actually spoken to the vets and explained the situation? If not I would contact them right away. It's not the ethylene glycol that's toxic but what it is metabolised into that can have lethal effects. OK it sounds as if she may have expelled most of it but even so.

Is anyone at home to keep an eye on her?
