Grrrr - cats suddenly gone fussy!

This morning our cats woke us up for their morning feed as they normally do with the usual headbutts etc (not to mention one hour earlier as cats don't do clock changes!) and my other half went down to feed them.

10 minutes later, they were back up all over me, getting more agitated than usual (even resorting to nibbling my elbows!) so I got up to see what was up. They hadn't even touched their food - I think it was Mac's.

I assumed they wanted to play, so got up, had a play etc then went to work.

They were left with Petnatur in one automatic feeder to open at midday and one with Carny to open at 4pm. All of these brands are food they normally wolf down.

When I got home at 6.30pm it had barely been touched! We don't normally allow them to be fussy; if they don't eat it they go hungry. But they seemed so hungry I gave in and gave them some Felix which of course they wolfed down like they hadn't been fed in a week.

I hope this isn't a sign of things to come!

Re: Grrrr - cats suddenly gone fussy!

did they still refuse the same food before you offered the Felix?

Not sure how long you've been feeding these brands but it's strange that two cats are refusing two different foods. Had it been only one I would have put it down to something wrong with the particular batch. Occassionally but rarely one of ours might refuse a certain flavour but never all at once!

Re: Grrrr - cats suddenly gone fussy!

It was 3 brands! Mac's, Petnatur and Carny! Their morning food was still there when I got in, as was the food in both compartments of the feeder.

When I realised they hadn't eaten all day by 6.30pm, I put down the Felix. I know that is their favourite, but they don't get it very often. They ate that no problems.

Oh and they have been on Carny and Grau for about 2 months (since they got here) and Petnatur and Mac's for about 2 weeks.

Re: Grrrr - cats suddenly gone fussy!

Sounds like they got you where they want you...
Could it be it is the last of a bag or bin, and it is no longer as fresh and smelly as the first helpings?

Mine occasionally refuse biscuits they normally eat, and I will mix in some fresh food from a sample bag, and it will smell all fresh and tasty again, and they will eat it.....
