My cat is in surgery now

Last night when I stroked my boy I noticed a discharge from his back. LOADS OF PUSSSSSS coming out. Went to the vet this morning and thought he will just get injections. Unfortunately his abscess was so big that he had to go to the surgery to clean it and he will be put on drainage I'm so worried as he constantly gets into fight (he's neutered) and I cant afford the upfront vet fees. Thx God for cat insurance!!!!

I just cant believe how fast the abscess can form.

Do you have experiences with neutered boys fighting. I suspect it's a ginger tom who is attacking him . I dont know whose cat he is and he still got his jewels.

Picking him up tonight.

Re: My cat is in surgery now

Aww poor paws. I can't help with the bullying situation, but I can on the surgery if it makes you feel any better. When my Ellie was a wee little 3 month old baby, she was playing and got a little nip on the bum which didn't bleed, so I thought it was just a pinch. About 4 days later, I picked her up and the abscess burst and blood and puss started streaming out of my little angel. She went the the emergency clinic as my vet was on vacation and they operated on her and put in the drains. She did just fine and she was tiny. She hated her wee little collar she had to wear (we found out she is a terrible scab picker), and I just had to keep warm compresses on the drains every few hours so they would remain clear. It was hard to keep her still and she lived in the bathroom for a few weeks, just to keep her quiet and such. But she came through just fine, so chances are your baby will be okay.

Is there any way you can start keeping him in or cat proof your garden so the bully stays away?

Re: My cat is in surgery now

Aw the poor boy - he must have been in agony!!!!

I've seen a few abscesses in my time but never anything like that or needed drains in them.

Give him big gentle hugs from all of us at Moggy Towers.
