Poor little guy. They kept Ellie at the hospital a few days (at great cost to me!) and she still had the drains in for about a week after that, but she didn't seem to be in any pain at all. Maybe it's the resilience of kittens. All she wanted was to get free of the bathroom and to rip out her drains and after those came out, her scabs. She's a naughty thing that way. The good news is that they do heal so fast, and I think if he's in pain, it actually works to his benefit in a sense as he won't be hopping around too much and possibly dislodging a drain or two.
Hope all goes well with the vet and taking the drains out. I'm sure that will hurt too, but at least you know that the wounds are clean and infection free and he'll heal up soon, poor dear. The hair will take the longest to grow back, so I hope he stays good and warm.
