Most nutricious dry cat food out there?

Hi there

I'm trying to find out which is the best dry cat food (nutritionally) to give my furries here.
I stood in the cat food aisle at Pets at Home for a long time comparing labels, and came away with a couple of small sacks of 'Purely' as it was a lot cheaper than James Wellbeloved, but had pretty much the same nutritional values.

Was this a wise choice?
I'm keen to hear what dry cat food you use (I'll never use Iams due to their totally vile animal testing, so it's no good telling me about that company)

I need to buy as natural as possible - ie, no artificial colours / preservatives / flavours etc.

Many thanks
Tara

Try Orijen or Applaws

Orijen has the best meat content.

Next best are Acana, Applaws and Taste Of The Wild. You'll need to buy them online though, they're not sold in PAH.

Oh dear, I can't afford Acana, Applaws or Taste Of The Wild for a greedy five cat household.

Maybe I'll have to stick with 'Purely' but I wondered if there was any food out there that may be better....

Re: Most nutricious dry cat food out there?

My picky boy loves fish4cats and I think it's a pretty ok dried food. I didn't think he was going to take to orijen but he has now so I'm going to try acana next. There aren't that many brands of dried food that I think are good quality.

we are just moving Merlot from Iams to Orijen...found it in our local petshop Kennelgate yesterday....Im told that cats need to eat less of this so doesnt work out as expensive as it first seems....not sure yet as only bought yesterday so will have to see how it goes- we plan to move mostly to wet as times goes on, she currently has whiskers simply and loves it... am planning on trying others soon.... but I dont know how good whiskers simply is in the scheme of things

Re: Most nutricious dry cat food out there?

For dry I feed both Hills Science Plan; Chicken, (P@H) and Orijen; Fish. (Zooplus) The Furbies love both of these and they are both high in meat content, although Orijen has less grain.

Is feeding wet food not an option?

I hope you have better luck with the Purely dry than I did - none of my three would even touch it!

Could you perhaps feed a combined wet/dry diet? There are some quite cheap ok wet foods (Top Life & Hi Life are the two Asda ones that spring to my mind).
