Applaws & Kitten Bottom Issues!!
Hi
We feed our 5 month kitten Applaws Cereal Free having discussed and read various things on this - she seems to love it to be fair, however she is having some other problems that I am wondering if could be related?? Sometimes when we clean her litter tray, there is a little bit of bright red blood in it - i am talking tiny amounts. And although she hasn't got diarrhoea or anything, sometimes parts of her poo are a little wet... (sorry for the graphic detail) This is also annoying because sometimes this means she is not 100% clean when she is done and she tends to then take this with her around the house or it just makes her fur dirty... Any help appreciated!! We mentioned the blood to the vet and he seemed fairly relaxed about it but suggested if it continues we could get her tested. It is such a small amount that sometimes its really hard to notice and I wonder if I am just being a mega paranoid cat mum.. Thoughts?? |

Re: Applaws & Kitten Bottom Issues!!
My thoughts would be - that she isn't getting enough fluids and so the poo is a little hard and so grazing on the way out - hence the spot of blood every now and then. Also sometimes a bit softer because sometimes she drinks more. (But I'm not a vet)

Re: Applaws & Kitten Bottom Issues!!
The bright red blood shows something is irritating/inflaming the colon and yes constipation would cause this though I'd expect stools to be hard. Assuming she's been wormed ( they can be responsible ) the next thing to consider is the food.
I would suggest switching her to an all wet diet and see if she improves. |
