Hi!
On weds, we took our female siamese, Eve, to the vets for her booster and also for a checkup. The checkup reveled she had terrible plaque and ginigivitis A trip to the vet for dental treatment is going to cost in excess of £100! Im fuming as this would have been building up and our previous vets (we only joined this new vet this week) should have noticed it when she went for a booster last year! That vet was only interested in "what what are you feeding her on" and trying to get us to buy damned expensive prescription food!!!! Anyhow, I have bought some enzyme toothpaste and some drinking water solution to help fight it off somewhat and prevent it in my younger siamese, Koko! I have tried giving raw chicken wings which have gone unnoticed! Has anyone had experience of using the water solution and toothpaste? It cost £17 so Im hoping they help somehow lol!!!Last edited by Taylor85; 21-10-2011 at 01:29 PM.. |

Re: Cat Ginigivitis and tatare
Regular brushing is the best thing you can do to prevent build ups of tartare and plaque. It unfortunately won't have much effect on existing build ups, only a proper dental scaling will remove these.

Re: Cat Ginigivitis and tatare
I have a cat with exactly the same problem, i have been quoted £180!!
![]() There is no way that i can get anywhere near her to brush her teeth or give her any sort of medication. I am currently saving so i can take her to get this all done for her. She is still currently eating so is not bothering her too much thankfully, but really does need it doing soon. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

If you can get her used to brushing then this will definitely help prevent the need for any such treatment further down the line. |
