Re: lucy has crf

Sooty was also diagnosed with CRF, but he sadly passed from another illness.

However I'd recommend felinecrf.org - it was of a huge help to me with his diagnosis and managing the illness!

Re: lucy has crf

Sorry about Lucy My cat Misi has crf and was diagnosed in 2008 as just borderline. She's been great on Fortekor and it's only this year that we've had a couple of scares. One thing that British and European vets in general seem a bit slow on is offering sub-cutaneous fluids, usually called sub-qs. Misi has only just started with sub-qs and we have learnt how to do it at home. It really is a life-saver for crf cats, and Misi's loads better. We hydrate her with saline, so it's really easy to use. Some hydrate with Lactated Ringers Solution, but most vets (in Europe) are reluctant to let owners do it at home because in reality you need to keep a close eye on the bloodwork and overdosing is possible.
Don't let the vet talk you into giving Lucy Hill's k/d either wet or dry to eat. It's the devil's food...

PM me if you need to chat In the meantime, check out the website Missye87 mentioned and join the Yahoo group tanyas-crf-support : Tanya's Feline CRF Support Group They are a super, kind group with more experience than any one vet could ever hope to offer you.
