Herbs in Cat Food

I was just looking at the ingredients of some cat food by 'Lily's Kitchen' and it contains various herbs and one of them is nettle.

Now I know that things can change their form when they are cooked and that people make nettle soup for humans, but nettles are poisonous for cats

Surely it must be safe or they wouldn't put it in the cat food

Perhaps I have got it a bit wrong? Does anyone know about herbs in cat food, particularly nettle?

Re: Herbs in Cat Food

Don't think nettles are poisonous to cats. Though I am not sure whether given the choice they would eat the darn things raw .

Hobbs - You're back - wonderful

When I was posting this question, I was actually thinking to myself that if only Hobbs was back on PF, well she would know the answer.

Hey Scarlett20, thanks for the welcome back! Though scanning through the posts of the last 4 weeks or so it looks like I haven't missed a lot. This place has been a bit underwhelming, hasn't it?

Have read the Denes fact sheet - most useful - thanks for that.

With regard to the Lily's Kitchen cat food, well you really would find it rather amazing if they were putting something in their pet food which was poisonous to cats. I know the pet food manufacturers of the supermarket cheap stuff put things in their food which is not classed as wonderful, but it is also not classed as poisonous either.

Have you ever given your cats anything from Lily's Kitchen range?

The link below is what I was looking at when I came across 'stinging nettle'
