How much is too much?

Today Spencer and Skye have eaten 400g of Smilla, 400g of AC, 360g Bozita tetrapack and about another half tetrapack between them. So about 670g each, they share bowls so one has probably had more than the other I'm guessing this is ok as they are growing? But, how much would you say is too much for a kitten to eat a day?

My 2 kittens are greedy guts too. They are like the rest of us in this household. We love our food Seriously though I wouldn't worry about it. Its better they are eating well rather than just looking at the bowls in disgust.

I know, there was me thinking the £70 Zooplus order I made at the beginning of the month would last a while. At this rate I'll be doing another one next month

Haha, believe me if he could he would Bowls are up on the unit though and Benny can't reach that far - he gives it a good shot though

Very true, they're just over the 6 month mark and think they have a growth spurt about then. Can't complain though as it's empty bowls instantly, even with the Smilla which usually isn't all eaten at once

They demolished another 400g tin of AC before I left for work so have put some Smilla out for them as hate leaving them with empty bowls when I'm not home til teatime. Skye, the gannet, was in about the bowls when I left though

Re: How much is too much?

I would start feeding them separately. There's a danger the competition for food is making them actually eat more than they normally would.

There isn't any competition for food. As like I say, they will walk away when full and go back later. One of them doesn't sit there and finish all the food so there is none if the other comes back later.

I watch them when they eat as Spencer tends to try and get Skye's when he is finished as she eats slower so I have to take him away, or give him more but on the other counter so Skye has time to finish her own.

I can't see why there would be competition for food when they know there will be food down most of the time anyway.

I'm guessing it's more because they have gone a while without food before being fed again. The main times they eat a lot are morning and teatime if I am working. When I'm off work they get fed 4 times instead of 3 so not going as long between meals.

They seem to go through phases, some days they eat a lot, others they don't. I guess it's all part of them growing.
