drontal, frontline and Indorex, advice please?

Hello everyone. I have a few questions. We have recently been adopted by a little stray cat. She is a lovely little thing but doesn't look too great. Money is very tight at the moment and there's no way we can afford to take her to the vets yet. she seems to have fleas, I havn't actually seen one but my partner has, and her black fur is quite thin in places. She seems fine within herself and is quite a happy cat but she looks undernourished, I suspect she may need worming too. Anyway I have ordered Frontline, drontal and indorex online which has arrived today. My questions are:

What's the best way to administer the drontal?
Is she likely to be sick/diahrorea?

Any hints and tips using indorex? we only have carpet in the bedroom (where she has spent some time sleeping) the other floors are wooden. We have washed all the fabric furnishings in our small flat. Anything else we should be doing. Any advice and tips would be great. Thanks. David

I signed up just to reply to your message, so hope you read it

I recommend you go to the vets and pay for Advocate. I picked up a kitten recently, only on the way back home I found it had FLEAS....EVERYWHERE!

Within 24 hours of using Advocate all fleas died. In total I picked off 55 fleas on her frontline does NOT kill the cycle of fleas/eggs.

I know taking care of a cat is costly, but please get the Advocate, it works.

About the Drontal, try to massage your finger on the cat's mouth until it opens, keep the head pointing upwards and drop the tablet in the mouth. Continuously rub under the mouth/throat until fully swollowed.

I've never used Indorex so I can't comment on it.

Hope this reply helps!

Use the Indorex liberally, and everywhere! Fleas love the gaps between flloorboards and up to skirting boards so cover those as well. Pull out furniture, hoover and then spray underneath.

Re: drontal, frontline and Indorex, advice please?

Thanks for your responses, much appreciated. Quick update, it turns out that the little black stray isn't a stray at all and lives across the road with a little old lady!!!! (whom I have spoken with) apparently the cat (Molly) is around 9 years old and has a reputation for just going where she pleases (as cats do!) We treated her with the Frontline, and hoovered the house several times before spraying EVERYWHERE with the Indorex (opening the windows to help ventilate) I made the mistake of crushing the drontal tablet and mixing it in with the catfood but judging by the cat's reaction it had tainted the taste of the food and she wouldn't eat it!!! she growled at me too, as if she knew what I was up to!! lol.....little bugger, anyway, in answer to my own question I then found that the best way to give her the drontal was to cut it in two and pop each half inside a little peice of cooked chicken which she wolfed down! This was all done last week, we were confident that we had got rid of the fleas in the house and because we were both out at work most of the week it seems that Molly went back home to her Mums, we didn't see her for 5 days. Then on friday night in she comes through the window and settles down for a nap.....then we spotted....A FLEA!!!! oh no! so it looks like the regular frontline that we got online didn't work after all! Well, on the saturday morning I went to speak to her owner and suggested taking her to the vets, the owner is a lovely old lady but she admitted that she had never taken the cat to the vets before, that she knew the cat had fleas and had tried a lot of different things (pet shop stuff ) to treat it. We agreed that we would go halves on the bill and took her for her first trip to the vet. It turns out that she has an allergy to the fleas which is why her fur looks so tatty, she had 2 injections, which has really perked her up, and we bought some frontline combo that we will have to wait a while before we can use on her. The trip to the vet tired her out but after 24 hours she is like a different cat, very playful and mischievious! So, it looks like she has 2 homes now. I have ordered 3 cans of Indorex and have arranged with the cats owner to help her hoover/clean/treat her house this weekend. what a palava!! glad we're on the road to sorting it though.

Thanks Nutmeg, I have just bought a steam cleaner as I have heard that they can be very effective for killing fleas/eggs in carpets etc. Does anyone else have any experience of using steam cleaners for this purpose?
