Is this what you don't want in wet food? I noticed the beef sheba my mum feeds has cereal in it!

absolutely - you don't want that in cat food
when you start reading labels you get quite a shock........

Yes, that is what I am doing at the moment, it is very shocking! I am still shocked vets prescribe dry food for diabetic cats!

Yes awful really isn't it? I got told that the prescription diets in vets are actually given to them free even tho they then charge ridiculous prices to their customers

Yeah, cereals have no place in cat foods. They have to be in dry foods due to the baking/extruding process but there's no good reason to put cereals in wet food.

I know why, it's cheaper than meat, that's why, they make fillers look good on the packaging, veg, rice ect, yep! more fillers, less meat, more in their pockets, grain is cheaper, just my opinion, lol Baloo j.

That's quite true, unfortunately. It IS more expensive to feed high quality foods, but worth it for your cats' health (IMO)

Quite. This is one of the things covered in "Your Cat". Dr Hodgkins has patented a treatment for diabetes in cats - it consists of removing all dried food from the diet and replacing it with high quality wet commercial food. (after initial stabilisation which may require insulin) - many cats can be completely cured of diabetes simply by this change to their diet.

to be honest having looked at the prices of the better wet foods and added the cheaper option of the classic i don't think it will cost much more than feeding lots of dry. mine can chomp through a hell of alot of dry food especially now it's colder. the wet seems to make mine fuller for longer. i guess as it don't have all the carbs in giving them sugar rushes and making their insulin levels rise and fall sharply making them crave more carbs and dry food. so i certainly think it's better for the cat and not all that expensive. they often have good offers on at zooplus and pets@home etc.

It's not true you have to have cereals in dry food - they have to have some form of carbohydrate to form the kibble but this does not need to come from grains.

The carbs can come from other soucrces such as veg.
