Yeah, but in the end it doesn't matter. Starch is starch no matter the source and it's the starch that's needed. The starch from potatoes isn't better than starch from rice or corn. Starch is starch.

Actually that's not quite true. Carbohydrate is not all the same. It all depends on the glycaemic index and glycaemic load of the carb. source.- ideally you want low GI/GL foods. Wheat and potato are high GI/GL, oats are low.

I learned a bit about this when I went on a low GL diet a couple of years ago - it really does work, no counting calories etc. just eat low GL foods.

ok how much did you lose then? yes i'm nosey - always on the look out for a good diet though lol xx

about a stone, I wasn't seriously overweight but enough to annoy me! Have to admit I've put some back on as I've not been as strict at keeping to the diet for the last few months

It was the the "Holford diet" that I followed.
