Question When to feed...

My Cats are currently on dry food down 24/7 and they have their "home cooked" (not done raw yet) food in the morning and then commercial tin/pouch food in the evening. I would like to get them off of dry and wondered how often should I feed my cats?

3/4 times per day? more often?

Re: When to feed...

I have to admit that I feed mine when they look hungry and the bowls are empty - probably 5-6 times a day!

Yes, i don't go out to work - if I did then the cats would have to stay hungry for longer

Re: When to feed...

Hmmm yes i eat 5/6 times a day so can see why the cats might want to LOL.... I guess I'll have to play it by ear and see how things go. I notice sometimes they leave food as there is too much down just twice per day. I guess once swapped to maybe 4/5 times per day you can feed smaller portions and not so much food is wasted and left. Mine are all so very greedy

I don't work either, i wouldn't get everything done in a day if i did i reckon x

I feed mine 2-3 times a day and they've always had the biscuit down (which i'm slowly changing to the holistic variety to see how they fair on that as now finding out even RC isn't the best for them i want to try something at least a little better)

Mmmmmmm yep the dry food is confusing isn't it Lou? xx

I have ordered the book that KK put up on another thread, just hope it isn't as shocking as I'm expecting

Just received an email to say it's been dispatched so will be doing some reading very soon!

Re: When to feed...

It will shock you if you've been convinced for years that dried food was the best thing you could feed your cats. But it is written in a very down to earth way, just stating plain facts with no sensational claims, and you'll find yourself thinking that it all makes perfect sense.

Re: When to feed...

to me dry food is most convient to the owner. doesn't spoil if left down, not too messy and meant to be cheaper.
