Re: When to feed...

I like the way you put Meant to be cheaper, lol. My lot never leave any wet food in the bowls long enough for it to go off haha

Re: When to feed...

Mine have biscuits in the bowl at all times but only 2 of mine have wet food and that is just half a pouch each of whiskas kitten twice a day. They also have raw twice a week or so.

My moggies aren't fussed with wet food at all so just have RC sensible and the occasional treat of chicken. 3 of my coonies can't really handle wet food at the moment because they have had a lot of tunny trouble but they can have cooked chicken fine and I have just started Lucy on some raw mince tonight to see how she goes.

I am waiting until all the coonies are over a year to let their systems settle down nicely and then I am going to try a different wet food with a higher meat content and I am also going to look at the applaws biscuits.

It's nice and convenient for the vets too who get commission for the brand they push.

Giving anything veterinary "approval" makes it appear better than it is. I am sure if there were studies that showed just what long term affects a purely dry diet has on a cat, then no vet would be pushing it. However, its a lucrative partnership for manufacturer and vet.

I am not suggesting this is really done (completely unethical and cruel) but it would be interesting though if you cloned a cat so you know it had exactly the same genetic make up, so you had the original and 2 copies. Keep them all in the same environment. Feed one solely dry, one soley wet and one as natural raw diet as possible and see what happens to those cats over time. I think the results would be quite shocking.

I would also be interested if they did studies on the effects of a cats health and longevity of over vaccination and the other chemicals routinely placed on or put into them.

You regularly hear of cats being given an overdose of wormers, drontal seems to be a common one. The cats behave as if drunk for a while then return to normal. No problem says the vet who administered it, the cat doesn't die, but what long term affect has that had on the cat ?

Re: When to feed...

People do need to take the time to research the food they give their cats and not just trust the vets or company who want money. It's like Doctors, don't always trust them, or know what's right etc...

Re: When to feed...

I feed Wilson twice a day; 6/7 in the morning, and 6/7 in the evening. Sometimes he gets a little snack just before bedtime too, but not every day

There was a bit of nagging in the beginning when I moved from dried all day + wet two-three times a day, but he soon got used to the routine.
