Natural Instint Cat Minces
Here is the reply I got from NI today
''Our test result are done by Eclipse Scientific Group in Cambridgeshire. These numbers are based on DRY MATTER per 100 grams. Moisture 68.2, Protein 16.5, Total Fat 12.5, Crude Ash 2.3, Fibre 1.3, Calcium 0.6, phosphorus 0.499, Vitamin A (Retinol) iu/g , Vitamin D3<0.5 iu/g, Vitamin E(as a-tocepherol acetate) 10.8mg/kg, Arginine 1.8 g/100g, Methionine 0.35 g/100g, Tryptophan(total) 0.18 g/100g, Taurine 394 mg/k To convert these numbers to wet. 100-68.2= 31.8 Protein 16.5/31.8= 51.8% actual FRESH meat protein Total Fat 12.5/31.8= 39.3% total fats critical for health in all cats Crude Ash 2.3/31.8= 7.2% bone (we DON'T fill our product with cheap bone fill) Fibre 1.3/31.8= 4.0% low levels to aide in digestion We make our cat food with only the freshest human grade quality ingredients. Our cat food is completely suitable for you to eat though you may not like the taste! It is made from 50% fresh beef heart, 44% fresh chicken, 5% liver plus the remaining ingredients.'' So they do use 5% liver, the bone level is maybe a little down but within range and a chicken wing a week would solve that. I am now happy.

Re: Natural Instint Cat Minces
Doesn't a 52% : 39% protein/fat ratio turn into 208:351 ratio of calories? (Protein is *4, fat is *9)
Or roughly 37% calories from protein and 62% of calories from fat? Afaik it should be closer to the other way around? Or have I done the math wrong? |

Re: Natural Instint Cat Minces
I don't have a clue
EDIT : and I've decided I don't care really today, I've had a really crap day at work, I'm knackered, I'm doing the very best I can, and I just can't be bothered anymore- no offence to you fadeaway you just happen to have the post above me - it's just every source of food has a problem - some say dry is fine, some wet, some raw - all are endorsed by vets. If I have to go looking too hard into raw and not trusting my instincts and it gets too hard then I won't feed it. And I won't feed dry and I have a kitten with a runny bum on wet so I'm jiggered. If other peoples' cats can live to a ripe old age on Whiskas or in the wild then I'm going to stick by my decisions for the moment and stop letting everyone make me doubt myself over small issues in an incredibly good food source. Find me a source that is AS good if not better and I may sit up and take notice - if not then I'm going to sleep; maybe for a few days!
