Vaccination lump

I am really worried about my kitten, well actually I am terrified! When Marley had his first vaccination it was given in his leg and he developed a small lump at the site of the jab. Well, it has been 10 weeks now and he still has the lump It doesn't seem to have grown and doesn't seem to be bothering him at all but I am really scared in case it is something sinister. I have to take my other kitten to the vets in a weeks time so I don't know whether to leave it until then or try to get an appointment sooner? Has anyone had any similar experiences?

Re: Vaccination lump

Spencer had a lump where he got his first vaccination but I have never checked to see if it is still there. I think it is common for them to get a lump but not sure how long they take to go away. Why not give your vet a ring instead of taking him in and causing unneccessary stress? That way you will know within minutes if it is anything to worry about instead of waiting for an appointment.

I always speak to my vet on the phone first unless I know it is something that they will need to see.

Re: Vaccination lump

Chicken had a lump at the site of the injection when he was neutered, I was petrified too but they said it was normal and just asked me to keep an eye on it i.e. size, colour, if it irritates him, etc. and that it should go away in a few days or so. I think it went after about a week or so, 10 weeks does sound like long so definitely worth a mention.
