Re: 4yr old Cat with Urine troubles -Dry food to blame?
Well a cat cannot live on chicken and fish alone.
I would suggest getting a good quality high meat content cat food (readily availably inexpensively from zooplus, such as animonda, smilla, or bozita) and sprinkling some crushed dry to get him onto a mostly wet diet.

Re: 4yr old Cat with Urine troubles -Dry food to blame?
Unfortunately as you have found out this is the problem with dry - try soaking his dry and making it into a soft food with a bit of gravy and then gradually add wet to it.
If you have a look on Pet Supplies, Pet Food, Dog Food, Cat Food and Pet Accessories at Zooplus you will find a lot of good quality high meat food that you might be able to tempt him with and they work out at less that Felix and Whiskas etc. Try Bozita, SMilla or Aminonda Carny - I think they do sample packs. Basically you need to keep him off the dry now or you are risking renal failure; it's for his own good.

Re: 4yr old Cat with Urine troubles -Dry food to blame?
Hi - I have a 5 year old Maine Coon with exactly the same problem. He also prefers to eat dry food and he has Hills Vet diet - it works out at about £5.00 a week to feed him. I also feed him on Feline Fayre tuna which is very inexpensive and he loves it.
Good luck! |

Re: 4yr old Cat with Urine troubles -Dry food to blame?
Urinary problems are on the rise and i definitely feel that dry food is a huge factor in this.
Follow the above advise and get him onto a wet diet. It works out cheaper than feeding dry on the long term. I would also invest in a water fountain, it encourages drinking and i feel that since i've had mine, the cats all drink more than they did with bowls.
