Anti-acid med for cats

Hiya

I have been wondering if you can get anti-acid meds for cats without going to the vets?
Does anyone give their cats medicine for acid tummys?

Thanks

Re: Anti-acid med for cats

How do you know that excess stomach acid is the problem? I'd be very wary of giving such OTC medication to cats as there are plenty of contra-indications even for the humans they're designed for. They are not benign products and can be quite dangerous.

Re: Anti-acid med for cats

He has crf and doesn't eat very well, the vet gives him a jab every so often and his appetite really improves.
I wouldnt give him anything, just wanted to see if anyone has this problem which they keep under controll themselves.
I shall be taking him back to the vet to ask her opinion and just wanted to go with more information.

Thanks for your advice havoc

Even more reason to be ultra cautious Definitely worth a chat with the vet to see what might help.
