upset stomach

Hey all, one of my 7 month old kittens has the runs today, they seems ok, one is a little more affectionate than usual the past few days, but when i got home from work today one of them had gone in their bed ... and it was loose. Not completely watery though, just pretty loose, nothing else in the house though. Theres been no changes in food this past week, and they cant have gotten in anything as house is restricted ... could it just be the weather? or something to really panic about?

Re: upset stomach

Yes may be the weather but you could put them both on cooked white fish or chicken (with or without cooked white rice) for 48 hours and then gradually reintroduce their normal food. If the kitten is still under the weather tomorrow evening it may well be advisable to pop him along to the vet on Saturday just to be on the safe side.

Re: upset stomach

Its still going on, not sure if its food related so want to just restrict to only fresh food (ish) if poss! What kind of white fish? and can it be frozen as i work in a frozen food store and sell mussell meat, cod, salmon, whitefish (pollock), haddock etc ... is any of it ok to feed them?

Re: upset stomach

I'd probably stick to plain boiled chicken, and give some of the juices too to get some fluid in to the kitten. Do you know which one it is?

That's been 4 days now. Have you still been feeding their normal food? I'd have contacted the vet by now if I'm honest, so may be a good idea to do that in the morning.

Re: upset stomach

I'm not sure what kitten it was, they both sleep together downstairs and i work full time, but it usually happened at night when i was in bed. Anyways, whatever it was has gone now, and i think i know it was. I didnt even realise id done it but i have a few cheapy foil trays of food in the kitchen from ages ago, just in case i run out of anything i usally get, and i gave them 2 of those mixed in with their smilia, im pretty sure that was the culprit, anyway, theyre all ok now, no more incidents thankfully, i just gave them dry food yesterday and today, and a small amount of smilia the day before with dry and its cleared up

Was going to take them to the vets if it persisted another day but no more signs of upset
