Merrick, Weruva, Wellness and Natural Balance

I've been extensively researching for other good cat canned foods, since I don't really have a(n) (affordable) option of getting the popular German brands.

I've come across these four brands that seem popular in the USA, they have good reviews and overall they seem of high quality. Plus, I am able to get them online for a more friendly price!

I would like to ask your opinion about the vitamins and taurine ratios as well as the overall ingredients.

Merrick : Merrick Pet Foods - Pet Foods

Weruva: Weruva - People Food for Pets - Cat Cuisine - Paw Lickin' Chicken

Wellness: Wellness® Cat Canned Recipes

Natural Balance: Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance® Limited Ingredient Diets® Salmon & Green Pea Allergy Formula Cat Food

Hopefully, they are good enough so I can click the order button and maybe you guys also get some more options when your kitties are being fussy. Crazy cat ladies united! lol

Won't you get customs and VAT charges on anything over £18?

I'm not in UK . I'm living in South Africa at the moment and I found a local online shop that imports from USA or UK and most of their prices have already included shipping and tax values, what is great for me because I don't need to do maths or worry about that extra amount!

Aw I feel for you... I am willing to take the risk too, hopefully Alex won't be fussy. I tried to give him a can of the The Hills Science Diet and well, it didn't look good to be honest and then Alex gave me that look "are you crazy?!". Afterwards I bought a can of Sheba, but Alex was still not pleased (of course!) and he licked a bit of the gravy and then looked at me like "you can finish it now!" lol. I know these aren't good quality, I was just trying to get some more moisture in his diet while I don't get the proper food. Anyways, thanks Merlin!

Re: Merrick, Weruva, Wellness and Natural Balance

I've fed all 4 brands to my cats, and they actually like them . I can no longer get Weruva from my local pet store, but Wellness and Merrick are a staple in my house. I buy the grain-free varieties of Wellness (the ones with a yellow corner on the label) as well as Wellness Core turkey. Wellness and Natural Balance both have a dense pate texture, Merrick's is more like small chunks in a thick gravy, and Weruva's texture depends on which variety you get--some are soupy, others are chunky. As for their nutritional value, I think someone like hobbs would be more qualified to analyze them for you . But with my limited knowledge on label reading, all 4 brands are top notch.

Btw, I know what a giant headache it is to work out what to feed your cats . It took me a good 6 months of research and trial-and-error to come up with our current menu selections . My cats are eating the above brands plus Animonda vom Feinstein, and the occasional can of applaws and almo nature (as a treat), and they're both happy and healthy.

Good luck to you and your kitties!!

Re: Merrick, Weruva, Wellness and Natural Balance

you can check this website Feeding Your Cat: Know the Basics of Feline Nutrition :: healthy cat diet, making cat food, litter box, cat food, cat nutrition, cat urinary tract health she is an expert on feline nutrition. After reading this and exchanging a few emails with her I decided to change Merlin“s food (to avoid future problems) however Merlin is just as stubborn as I am and has refused all my efforts. There is a link inside that analizes diff foods. It is quite good. The brands you mentioned are highly rated and I woudn“t have minded paying the shipping cost but I found myself with almost a 100 cans in the cat shelter

Yea, it is giant headache . Since I've learned about how unhealthy a dry food diet can be, I don't sleep very well at night (you probably think I'm crazy ). I have this in the back of my head all the time and I want so badly to give my Alex the best diet possible, so I really can't wait to make this order!

I will order all four brands then . If your Highness decides one of them is not worth his attention, I will have a back up plan .

Thanks for your help, you really explained well and you told me pretty much all I wanted to know

All the best to you and your kitties!

Re: Merrick, Weruva, Wellness and Natural Balance

they were about 92, and since I“ve taken a few more to them. I got to know the shelter but I would have loved to give him the best. The expert vet said no dry food at all. All Merlin likes is Hills, which is just crap. Each time someone talks of a new food here,. I get really happy and then....
