Animonda Carny Kitten Food question

Ever since I've switched to Animonda Carny kitten food the kittens who are 14 weeks seem much fuller than when I fed them Felix for example they were eating that morning, noon and night - Literally! Now they have a small tin between them for breakfast, some Applaws dry just to snack on for lunch and around 5 or 6 another tin of Animonda which just get nibbled on. It's normally gone by morning so it must get eaten at some point during the night .

Does this sound normal. All this "posh nosh" is new to me. I used to get tellings off from the Vet for feeding Felix so I switched to Science Diet for the next umpteen years and only gave "wet food" in secret.

Re: Animonda Carny Kitten Food question

Sounds fine. If they need more they will soon let you know

One thing i would say is feed more than just one brand. They get fed up with just one and will sooner or later refuse to eat it which is more than annoying!!

Vets can be shocking really and personally i'd never keep what i knew to be good 'secret'.

My vet has a Facebook page and i have been known to publically 'argue' with them when it comes to good nutrition, i know i'm right and i don't mind pushing it across! I'd just get them told.

Re: Animonda Carny Kitten Food question

If you mean 'does them feeling fuller on AC seem normal?' then yes

The higher percentage of meat & overall quality will be what does it - with Felix and Science Plan, they would need more to feel full due to it's poor quality content. This is exactly the reason you'll find feeding recommendations for the higher quality foods are far less than those of the poor quality. There's less in the good food that their bodies don't require, so on the poorer quality stuff it's just pumped straight out the other end as waste.

Another example being that on a raw diet, there's literally nothing that will go wasted when consumed by your cat - which is why their 'output' so to speak, is considerably less (think Malteser's.. sorry!) and why a 5kg cat will only require roughly 120-130g a day, compared to an entire tin of poor quality cat food.
