Vomitting cat

Right, so we've been on the new, improved diet of Animonda/Grau/Smilla for about a month. No real problems, apart from a bit of diarrhea for Hobbes at the start. However, over the last four days Jazz has been throwing up like clockwork once a day.

He'll eat his breakfast in the morning, sleep for a few hours, then come downstairs at about 3ish and vomit under the dining table. I'm not sure if he has anything to eat again just before he throws up. He then goes outside for a couple of hours, comes back inside, has dinner and messes about for the rest of the evening until bedtime. But no vomitting - just in the afternoon! It can't be his food then, can it?

Any ideas? He's perfectly happy otherwise. It's starting to get a bit annoying finding a puddle of puke under the dining table every afternoon. Didn't have to clean it up today though - one of the dogs ate it.

Re: Vomitting cat

Is he long haired? Could it be hair balls? Where does he sleep? Is it near anything very hot, radiator, on top of pipes etc? Does he wolf down his food? etc

Re: Vomitting cat

Since you're uncertain if he eats shortly before the vomiting, though inspecting the vomit would give you some indication of the level of digestion, the only thing I can suggest is switching to a different food and see if things improve.

It may well transpire it's the current batch of food causing the problem ( I've had this once with some though not all of mine ) or he may have developed a allergy to an ingredient ( this can also be the protein source ) in that particular brand. If this is the case then you'll have to avoid this one in future!

Re: Vomitting cat

may be totaly useless information for you but ruby had a spell of being sick the other week, turned out it was an allergic reaction to a bunch of flowers we had ion our living room. So it's not always a change of food that can set them off.
