Louie is getting so skinny?

We have two moggie cats, Louie and Thelma--Louie started off as Louise . They are both in-door cats, get on well with the dogs (Or "fluffy beds" as they're known to the cats) and get fed a half a can of cat food twice a day each as they've never been big eaters.

They're both of smallish/medium size despite being 2 years old, but lately I've noticed Louie is losing weight and he feels so light when I pick him up, though Thelma is completely fine.

We've taken Louie to the vets before due to a skin condition he has (he's allergic to something in the garden and needs meds for it that he will need periodically as it comes and goes, hence being an in-door cat) so we wondered if it was that. Nope. They say he's fine, he just needs a little bit more food, but whenever we try to give him just a little more, he either leaves at and I just pile more and more food on top every time I go to feed them, or he'll eat it and throw it up.

Any ideas as to why this is happening? He's otherwise a happy cat and love lazying around. I'm just worried that he'll keep losing weight.

Re: Louie is getting so skinny?

Louie need to go back to the vet and have some blood tests. Weight loss like this needs to be investigated.

I can't see how a skin conditiion would cause these symptoms though a food allergy might may owing to the vomiting. You need to get to the root of the vomiting otherwise the weigh loss will continue! What are you currently feeding him?

Re: Louie is getting so skinny?

We've had blood tests taken, scans and the like. All they can tell us is that he's allergic to a plant in the garden (We don't know which one, so we try to keep the garden as greenery-free as possible).

They both get a mix of Acana dry and Smilla canned wet food.
