Don't feel that you can't feed them supermarket food though. Mine love it, more than their normal food, but it is only used occasionally. The majority of people DO feed their cats supermarket food, my sisters has been and He's well old, had no problems, in good health. It might not be the greatest, but if it was that bad, people wouldn't buy it and they would be out of business.
Animonda Carny and Smillia (the only 2 I've tried so far) look a lot better than Felix/Whiskas, smell a lot better, and they ARE a lot better. Read the labels and check out the wet food sticky on here for more details.

I have to disagree about supermarket food. It is not good food. People buy it because they don't know any better, it's convenient, and it's heavily marketed. Just because the majority of cat owners feed their cats supermarket food does not make it a good idea.

The pet food industry is closely linked to the corporate food giants who use it as a lucrative dumping ground for their waste products such as brewers yeast, maize pulp, rendered animal carcasses and lots of other nasties.
As such, the quality of the protein is questionable, there are lots of grains and carbs which are totally inappropriate for carnivores, and it stinks.

Unfortunately it's going to take a lot more than a few cat owners buying German cat food from Zooplus to put the pet food giants out of business.
spid and babygirls like this.
