new hear but need help
hello
i have a cat named pepsi. his a year and half old. he keeps scratching behind his ears till it splits open. his not a sociable cat and i only get to see him when i put food down. i got him from someone on a website and i think he must have a bad experience. he hates men and if any one visits he wont come out at all . his scratched his ear so bad there is no fur left and a massive gash. i have took him to the vets and they stitch him up and send him on his way. his now also started to be sick and seems to walk funny. he doesnt go out so it does seem very odd. im really worried. his part of the family and i just want to help him. thanks for reading x |

Re: new hear but need help
thank you for replys.
ive book a appointment. the first time he did it he had ear mites. the second time there was no ear mites. they sad they couldn't believe he was doing it to himself. i said i have no other pets and his an indoor cat. his to scared to go out. they just stitch him up. i had him done as i thought maybe this was the problem but its actually got worse. im sorry worried that i may find him dead as he scratches so deep im scared his going to catch a artery. will just have to wait and see what the vet says. im there literally every month. maybe it will get sorted since there are other symptoms thank you again x |

Re: new hear but need help
Going by what you've said I would taking him to a new vets ASAP or at very least seeing a different vet at the practice, to simply stitch him up and send him on his whithout finding the cause is unacceptable. The itching is most likely to be caused by some form of parasite or an allergy to something but neither of these would explain his other symptoms (except maybe vomitting if he has food allergies) and it may be they are unrelated, all the more reason to get him to the vets sooner rather than later. What do you mean by walking funny?

Re: new hear but need help
If his balance is affected I've do doubt he's got a middle ear infection which has most probably developed from inflammation owing to the ear mite infestation/constant scratching. Sometimes this can actually involve rupture of the ear-drum. From what you describe your poor cat sounds in a lot of pain.
When is your appointment? Your cat need to be seen NOW and put on a course of antibiotics/ a topical ear medication for this. Sometimes a long course is necessary to eradicate the infection completely. Last edited by Ianthi; 26-09-2011 at 03:45 PM.. Reason: surplus words! |
