Can Anyone Please Help ?

I'm asking on behalf of a friend. The mammy cat has had an infection and mastitus. The 5 week old kittens have now got very runny tums. They've been to the vets and have had anti-biotics ect, but to no avail. The vet is at a loss. I've said I think live yoghurt is good, but I know other things have been mentioned by some of you, but can't remember what. Please could you post anything that will help these babies, that you've had success with.

Re: Can Anyone Please Help ?

She could try slippery elm powder or tree barks powder, pretty much the same thing. They say to add that to yogurt with a bit of honey. Its supposed to soothe the digestive tract, honey helps do that too. Protexin also do an extra strong probiotic formulated for cats on antiBs, it comes in a capsule you can empty onto their food or into their water.

Poor Mum and babies, must be a really worrying time for her.

Re: Can Anyone Please Help ?

oh dear. we had a lovely tonkinese kitten in last week with horrible runs since it was a little one. we ended up trying steroids(prednisolone) daily and after a week the runs were back to solid. i have no idea if this would be suitable for the kittens but might be a suggestion for the vets to try. we sent off samples to Axiom with no results and this was the next route thinking it might be IBD/IBS. I hope the little ones get better soon!

Dorwest Herbs do a pot of tree barks powder Tree Barks powder-Dorwest Herbs Ltd , or you may find a pack of slippery elm online cheaper its widely available.

Probiotic stuff Bestpet Pharmacy - Synbiotic DC Capsules again maybe able to find that cheaper if you put the name into google. Best pet pharmacy do the prokaolin as well I think
