PETFOU is on a distinguished road
My kitty is losing her fur!

My kitty, Peppy, is losing fur around her rump, and back legs. This has been going on for a few months. I took her to the vet, and he said it was probably a flea allergy. She's been on Frontline for 3 months, now, and the fur is not growing back. It actually looks like it is still falling out.
Before we took her to the vet, she was licking and biting a lot, in that area. She is not doing that so much, anymore, but the fur is still very thin. Any ideas what the problem could be, besides fleas? Thanks so much for any help you can give!

Re: My kitty is losing her fur!

If the hair isn't beginning to grow back then it's possible she's still licking and biting the area when you're not looking!

If it's flea allergy even one flea can set off a reaction. Which Frontline did you use? The Combi from the vets is the better of the two-reports that cats are becoming immune to the non-prescription one. Also the environment needs to be treated as well, where most of the fleas exist-again you need a good product from vets.

If not flea allergy then stress would be my next suspicion.
