Back to the vet again

Edit: after the vet visit at the bottom - I have to eat my words!

I'm struggling with so much frustration and anxiety. Sam has a red lump in his mouth again, same place, I think it's where his one remaining back tooth is. In size, it covers about one fifth of the gums on the bottom left of his mouth.

I've been doing some research into stomatitis causes and treatments online and came across this:

"Cats with stomatitis often present with a history of halitosis, pawing at the face, drooling, pain upon eating, anorexia and weight loss. Patients show a preference for soft foods, may be less active, and express aggressive behavior or an aversion to having their face touched. An unkempt hair coat may result from a reluctance to groom."

This is TOTALLY the opposite of Sam. I couldn't have found a description that's more unlike him. But everything I've read points to stomatitis and I realised (belatedly) that's what the vet called it, so I can only assume it must be very mild.

We're off to the vets again this afternoon, and I'll see what comes of it. Hopefully, she'll just give him an antibiotic injection (we're seeing a different vet this time) and that will reduce it again, and then we'll have to see. I'm considering homeopathy, since the vets here don't seem to be able to offer anything useful.

Edit: We saw the young lady vet who I complained about so much when she said Milly was overweight, and where she got it so wrong with Milly, she got it so right with Sam. She gave him an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory injection, and repeated what the other vet had said - that this was the symptom of an underlying problem and it would keep coming back. We talked about me changing his diet, and she asked me what I was giving him. When I said I was cutting sugar and grains out of his diet, she said, "Good, no refined or processed food." She talked about cleaning his (two) remaining back teeth, I suggested I could give him raw chicken wings, and she was even more pleased with that. She said most English people are squeamish about giving their cats raw meat. So, nothing new came up in terms of treatment, but it seems like she and I are on the same wavelength, and that makes a massive difference.
