Re: Insurance question again -sorry!

Argos offer a lifetime policy and are also offering £30.00 cashback via Quidco.com. Also if you go by Compare the Market, the price is usually the same and you get a free meerkat which you can sell on Ebay for a few quid to offset the first years costs. This is my second year with Argos and this years policy did not go up, but I did not claim either.

Re: Insurance question again -sorry!

Thank you again. I looked at this site earlier, was very helpful. I got the quotes, but I did not which one to choose from. The cheapest lifetime are starting at £140 I was wondering if the maximum benefit and yearly one would be a better option. I did not understand fully the differences, especially that the condition cannot be treated in next year because it is a pre-existing.

I think I will go for the cheapest lifelong which is Homebase for £96 or I will spent a little bit more £143 on Argos Platinum.

Just 2 last questions.
If I choose Homebase with limit of £2500 and my cat will develop something, will that mean I would have to stay with them forever?
If I will claim for lets say accident in one year, will they put the price up in the second year? Also if I will take insurance with another company do I have to tell them I claimed?

Thank you

Re: Insurance question again -sorry!

Okay so, you get the yearly cover. Your cat gets an illness, which is going to last for its life. You are covered for the year you are currently in, but after that, no.

Next year, that condition is pre existing and none of the treatment will be covered. So yearly cover is only good for short term illnesses and accidents.

If you swap insurances, anything that your current insurance has treated will be classed as something pre existing. You dont have to stay with the same insurer, but if you have a lifetime cover, and swap insurance companies, ANYTHING that has previously been treated will no longer be covered. And yes, the vet will have to provide them with information on the previous illnesses your cat has had, otherwise its probably insurance fraud.

Re: Insurance question again -sorry!

Pet insurance is a minefield. If you get it wrong now,you will pay for it.Once you have claimed for an illness/accident ,if you change insurers it will be considered a pre existing condition and will not be covered.I cant pretend to be an expert in any shape or form,I just urge you to be aware and choose carefully.

Re: Insurance question again -sorry!

Thank you!
That s why I registered here! I have no idea about insurance (any, really), I will buy the best what I can afford and pray my kittys stay healthy, so I can change it for sth better in a couple of years.

Just need to search a little bit more. Car insurance are always cheaper at the end of the month, will check if with pets is the same!

Cheeers!

Re: Insurance question again -sorry!

Another thing to be aware of is that, whilst I have gone for the most comprehensive life policies I can afford, I'll only really know those policies are any good when the company actually pay out. If they quibble or delay about paying - or even find some loophole to avoid paying altogether - then they aren't much good ......but I won't know that until the time.

I always think it would be useful to read reviews from people who have actually had to claim - I'd love to know which companies pay up with a minimum of fuss and which don't. I found one online but it makes for seriously depressing reading:
Customer Pet Insurance Reviews & Ratings by Real Policyholders

I can only hope there are loads of satisfied customers who didn't feel an overwhelming urge to post a review after their sucessful claims.
