Ear drops question

I have given Willow ear drops today for ear mites (I rang the vet last week but as she was having her jab on Friday they she would be fine til then )

Since I gave them to her - about an hour ago, she keeps shaking her head (which I expected) but she is also dribbling a lot, and looks like she has horrible taste in her mouth (licking her lips) and seems to be screwing her eyes up

Is this normal?

Edit to say: she isn't herself at all, she has just hidden inside a paper bag, after getting out of the hidey hole on her tree - and she never uses the hideyhole - she likes to know where we are all the time

Re: Ear drops question

Probably dislodged some through head- shaking and later ingested some through grooming so yes would be 'normal'. Otherwise no though!

Re: Ear drops question

Doubt it very much if it's a veterinary product. Which one is it? Have a look at label. Try and contain the drops by pulling down ear-flap straight after application to minimise overflow. Apply at entrance to ear canal.

Re: Ear drops question

Its Canaural - it doesnt say anything about it being ingested accidently.

I put 2 drops in each ear and massaged under her ears like he told me to.

She is eating though, so maybe she did lick a bit and is trying to get rid of the taste.

Re: Ear drops question

My cat had to have the same drops for ear mites, and she was out of character for a few hours after each dose we gave her. I was quite distressed by this as was she. The head shaking is the cat dislodging some of the dirt in the ears caused by the mites. Mine also used to wash the ears after her having the drops and shes perfectly healthy now
