Question about Bozita wet food

My cats ADORE this stuff I am absolutely delighted as I had been feeding an all dry diet until finding this forum and now I'm feeding an all wet diet they are like totally changed cats - their coats are glossy and sooooo soft, they are incredibly loving and basically just totally lovely

So I'm just buying another load of Bozita but I noticed on the Zooplus website the meat content *appears* to state 4% actual meat - surely this is not correct, I'm sure I read somewhere here that Bozita is a high meat content?

I bought the Minced Beef, Perch, Chicken Liver and Rich in Children varieties...

The majority of cat food states 4% as thats a legal requirement. I imagine its because, lets say they state 70% and then a batch goes through at say 69% and someone checks it they could get in trouble, but with 'min 4%' they are covered AND they fulfil the packaging requirements and labelling, it has to be over 4% of the named meat I believe.

But yeah its much higher, the 'meat' in the meat chunks has a high content, but overall the gravy/jelly ones are lower. I think the pate comes out at about 70% overall meat from memory.

My boys are loving the turkey and reindeer pates at the moment. I wish they would offer more variety with the pates in the tetrapacks.

Re: Question about Bozita wet food

Ahhh I understand now - thanks that is SO helpful I just wanted to make sure I'm not feeding them low meat content rubbish like those you can buy at the supermarket. Although I know the meat content is highter in the pate ones they really prefer the jelly ones but I have a few pate versions that I'm going to keep trying with, perhaps I'll mix them in with the jelly ones....

Anyway thanks so very much for clarifying

This is something that's been bugging me, actually. I know the meat content in the pate ones is higher because hobbs says so

So, what have the jelly/gravy ones got in them instead of meat that lowers the percentage meat content?

Re: Question about Bozita wet food

But for a longer, more informative reply.

The pate has meat pate in.

The chunks ones have jelly/gravy and meat chunks.

The meat content of the chunks and the pate is the same. However, the chunks ones contain a lot of gravy and jelly. Bozita have only admitted to it being less than 50%, which means its likely to be very CLOSE to 50%, as surely theyd want to give you as low an estimate as possible. If it was 40%, you would think theyd happily admit to it!

So, whilst the meat content in the meat is high in the chunks, there is a lot of things other than meat, which brings down the overall percentage. The pate just has the meat.

I am intrigued. Where did you get that figure from GWM? I don't think Bozita have disclosed how much meat there is in their pates if one also takes into account cooking water, emulsifiers, binders etc etc. Certainly all communication with me stopped when I asked those questions a while ago.

Also, on German tetrapaks of the pate the "up to 97%" meat content claim that has once graced the front has been removed and has been replaced with "high meat proportion".
