That answer's actually more useful to me than you probably think it is! I didn't know there was any way to thinken gravy other than using grains. I'd even searched for gluten free gravy recipes, and all I'd come up with was thickeners other than wheat flours.
I've looked at the analysis figures on Zooplus, and the chunks in gravy are 83% moisture and 275KJ per 100g. The pate is 355KJ per 100g, but the moisture content isn't shown. Is that an oversight on someone's part, or are Bozita not required to declare it?
Bearing in mind the difference in energy values, is it reasonable to assume the difference is created by the chunks in gravy having a higher moisture content? (I know extra fibre can also increase weight without increasing energy content, but they're declared at 0.5% fibre, which wouldn't be enough to create a difference of 80KJ per 100g, I don't think.)
As I said earlier, I'm not concerned about having to feed more of it to satisfy my cats' energy needs. I just want to be fairly confident that there's nothing in it I wouldn't want my cats to eat.
