Rubbish at chewing?

I thought cats were supposed to be predators, why is Biffy so rubbish at chewing?? Does the evil GoCat just make them lazy and not expecting to have to?

Re: Rubbish at chewing?

It could be dental problems. It could be that he's used to you doing everything for him, so he expects his food cut into bite sized pieces too!

Seriously, is it wet food he isn't chewing? (Most cats don't chew dry, or at most just bite the pieces in half before they swallow.) If you've recently changed his wet food from one that didn't need any chewing to one that does, he might be struggling to work out what to do with it.

But the first thing I'd do is get his mouth checked to see if there are any dental problems making him reluctant to chew.

My Mitzi is the same. She doesn't like to chew at all!

No dental problems (but agree this should be checked to make sure) she just "don't wanna". Even more frustrating is I got her some of those chicken breast wrapped fish and she will chew those! I think she is just such a little princess that chewing food is beneath her.

Vet did quick tooth check, a couple of months ago now. I got him those fish chicken wrap treats too, and he has a go, he just doesn't succeed!!

What are these treats? I should probably get one for the overlord as she''s rubbish at chewing too and it would be good to give her a challenge!
