Fur coming out in clumps....fleas?

Hi,
This is my first post and I hope someone can give offer some help.
We have a 2 year old tabby named Lebowski and we love him dearly.
He is an outdoor cat and a really loving and funny little fella….basically a joy to be around.
I need some help with flea treatment.
Basically we use Frontline Combo and have always noticed that he still scratches…loads.
I also get flea bites on my legs etc.
We use a spray for the rooms (can’t remember the name but it’s a recommended one) and we clean regularly.
Over the past week we have noticed clumps of fur around the house, however he does not have any bald patches.
I have a feeling its fleas as he has been scratching like mad over the last couple of days.
I have read that Frontline Combo is not as good anymore and I wonder if people could offer some good alternatives.
I read about Advantage Multi but I think it maybe only in the US.
Also read about Revolution.
Thanks for reading!
Al
