Re: Male kittens neutered

Aah thanks all for your help I appreciate it They're out of the carriers now running around the house as normal! I've left my female play too since she was crying for them and all seems fine so far! I feel quite bad now that I put them in the cages but they don't seem thatbothered about it now their out lol. Can't believe how fast they heal!

Hmmm. Doesn't look like theres too much wrong with him then! A week on and everything has healed up and is fine
Maine Coons eh... whoever suggests keeping a MC kitten quiet needs to get one, they will never say anything of the sort again

Re: Male kittens neutered

Both my MC were done a few weeks back....they were both back to normal as if nothing had happened immediately they got home lol

Totally different to when my older 3 were done 12 years ago...i guess its improvement in anaesthetic & procedure over the years

Re: Male kittens neutered

Wilbur needed stiches during neutering and there was still no cage rest. He took it easy for one evening and the next day was back to normal and racing around. Oscar, who had a normal procedure was perfectly OK on the evening we brought them home.

I fretted loads - they just ate loads and got on with being kittens.

Re: Male kittens neutered

Were you just keeping them in a pet carrier like you use to take them to the vet?

Re: Male kittens neutered

Yeah , the nurse at the vets said to cos it would keep them calm ... learned my lesson there. I let them out one at a time for a while though, they werent constantly in there. I feel really bad now, but i was only following what i was told ... ill double check next time! They're ok now, theyve been running around all day ... cant blame them mind. I cant believe i was told to keep them in there if i didnt even have to! Nurse seemed to not be able to get us outta there fast enough though, she just rushed through the instructions etc ... ah well, guess lots of guilty treats in store for them now

Re: Male kittens neutered

In future if they ever need to be on cage rest *god forbid* they really should be in a large dog crate with space for food/bed/litter.

Keeping them in a carrier for any longer than the necessary to and from somewhere isn't very nice, they cant toilet except, well, on themselves, and I am gobsmacked that the vet nurse suggested it!

She sounds rubbish rushing you out of there with daft advice like that!

Re: Male kittens neutered

I don't usually get that nurse, they're usually very good up there. Went back up today for their check and all seems fine after the neuter anyhow The boys arent too traumatised and went back into the carriers easily The only thing wrong was Alfie had to have some eye drops, seems to have caught a cold or bumped and inflamed his eye either at the vets or back at home in the carrier bless him. So hopefully whatever it is should clear up in 5 days or so they seem to think Also saw a different nurse this time thankfully!
