cats and children - worming
Hi again
hope you all don't mind but I have another question I have read on afew websites that if you have young children in the house it is best to worm a cat every month incase the children catch roundworm, but this sounds a bit excessive to me considering she is going to be a house cat, it seems alot of medicine to keep giving the cat I was wondering what other people do who have children, worm every month or every 3 months? |

Re: cats and children - worming
Mine are all housecats and i only worm before taking a queen to stud, not at any other time.
I would only worm if i saw symptoms of worms being present. I avoid medcations in general, every month is ridiculous!! ![]()

Re: cats and children - worming
Egg count actually, you're not looking for live worms although if you find them it's a rather obvious indicator. You can have it done as often as you want really. I did my cat when I got him just to check. You should really do 3 stool samples over consecutive days or it isn't accurate. With my last cat I had 2 days of clear samples and on the 3rd it came back as quite heavy burden of toxocara and isospora. No idea how much it costs in the UK (costs me €1.50 at uni).
