Cats being sick

For the past couple of days I've been finding vomit on the floor. All six of the cats are quite perky and seem fine but as of today I've seen three of them be sick. It tends to be their dry food I see in their vomit although Gratch threw up a brown liquid. Gratch occasionally throws up when she has a hairball and I associated Simi throwing up with her stitches coming out after her spay but I also saw one of the boys throw up in the litter today. The cats have been on purely dry food for the last 3 weeks as it was a difficult financial month with the wedding and was wondering if this could be making them vomit? Like I said, they're all perfectly perky otherwise. They have constant access to fresh water and they are used to the food they're eating as I usually give them a 75% wet 25% dry diet. Obviously if any of them takes a turn for the worse I'll seek immediate vet attention and if people think it's the dry making them ill I'll borrow money to get them some wet. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Re: Cats being sick

You haven't opened a new bag recently?

No ingredient changes pets at home seem a bugger for that.

Do they go out, I can't remember? If nothing has changed foodwise and 3 of them are chucking up that sounds like it could be some kind of virus. Have you got pet insurance because if it carries on I think you might have to take them to the vet.

None of my business buyt if you are feeding whiskas and that's what you can afford I'd go slightly cheaper and feed something like PAH own brand as that is pretty cheap and there seems no difference in the ingredients.

Save the money. I think Whiskas is a massive con.

Re: Cats being sick

If it's any help, I tried Purely when it was on special offer, one cat threw up with it and the other had a bout of cystitis. It went straight back for a no quibble refund.

Never had any luck getting them to eat any of the PAH foods but both will eat Whiskas in preference to anything better.

Re: Cats being sick

Good to see you back, Gratch! And congratulations on the wedding!

I think we all need some updated pics of the kitty family--it's been a while now.

As for the vomiting, it doesn't sound like you've changed their diet so radically to account for the upset. I suppose it is possible that they've picked up a virus or something that is making them sick. Can you try boiled chicken/fish and rice for a day and see if it settles down?

Re: Cats being sick

Welcome back Gratch and of course congratulations!

It sounds to me as if the sickness is food related-it could well be due to the current batch if they were OK before on it.

Is is regurgitation or actual vomiting? Regurgitation usually points more towards an allergic reaction to the food itself rather than an illness.

Re: Cats being sick

I'm not sure if it's vomitting or regurgitation. With the two that I saw throwing up the dry food it was very quick, basically opening their mouths and a teeny bit of a heave to get it out and that was Simi and Landy. Gratch however threw up a more brown liquidy stuff and heaved a bitty more. I guess an allergy could be rearing it's ugly head since they're being fed purely dry at the moment where it was just a filler while I was at work before? I think either way I'll book them all for a check up on Saturday (long awaited pay day on Friday!) and then just stick em purely on wet food again.

Thanks for all the congrats and stuff as well Will definitely get an update of the kitties.
