17yr old cat loves raw

I'm looking after a neighbours cat whilst they are away - she is a fantastic beautiful long hair black lass and I think she is fantastic especially for 17. SHe had to have an operation a few days before they went away and I promised to look after her. She was fine until yesterday (over two weeks from the op) when she stopped eating her Felix () and this morning I found loads of dire-rear (love that spelling!) in the litter tray and on the carpet. It was an over night thing and it stopped but she still wasn't eating so I rang her owner and asked if I could give her some raw.

I've never seen a cat eat so enthusiastically - she purred the whole way through and I left her finishing off 75g. Now this cat is really thin and rarely eats well - could this be the turning point for her? I'm so chuffed for her. She is such a sweetie. and to see her digging in for once rather than leaving it with an upturned nose was fantastic. I just can't stop thinking about it. I left the tub there and she will be on this for as long as I can give it to her.

Re: 17yr old cat loves raw

Yeah, way to go Spid. Let's hope it will all sit in her stomach correctly, come out the other end alright and that she will eat the food with the same gusto tomorrow, and the day after, and the day after that....

Indeed - lets hope - it can't be worse than the Felix which she wasn't eating any more.

Re: 17yr old cat loves raw

What a very clever cat she knew that you had something much more tastey for her at home

If the owners dont keep it up on their return I bet you have 1 more for dinner more often than not

I use NI minces for both the dog and the cats (obviously the dig gets dog ones and the cat gets cat ones)

Is that all you feed? I take it the minces have everything they need in them, just 'minced' down? I'd love to raw feed but it confuses me Think it's because there is so many options...

Thanks for reply. I'm hoping to introduce some minces to see how they get on with them, with the possibility of moving onto a total raw diet.

I don't have time, energy or confidence to make my own - Ni is SO easy. Talking of which I need to get some out of the freezer to be defrosting. *toddles off to do so*
