from outdoor kitty to indoor kitty

After our recent move we decided in the end to keep our furball inside for safety reasons as we have a park at the bottom of our garden and until we get a new fence its not an option until the whole garden is kittysafe. but lately she has shown little interest in going out. which is a good thing. But her eating habits seem to have changed. We feed her as normal but now she does not seem satisfied with whats in her bowl and wants more . Where we lived previously she always went over to her "mate" gizzie house to share food and vice versa and put a bit of weight on . am I being a cruel mummy not giving into her demands for extra food as now she is a slimmer shinier kitty .

Aww bless. If she is a little overweight I don't think you're being cruel. Could you maybe gradually wean her down though so she's not used to getting so much and then getting a lot less? Might help her 'cope' with less food if it is gradual so she can't really notice it?

Also meant to say, if she was an outdoor cat who knows what she was killing and munching on while out which she now isn't getting.

Re: from outdoor kitty to indoor kitty

she did catch her fair share of mice and birds, also wanted to ask is it feasable at her age to introduce a playmate she is good with other cats but want to be 100% sure before we go ahead. WE passed up an offer to rehome a beautiful 9 year ols raggie as he needed to be an only cat and very nervous but advise here is needed as I woukd rather rehome a slighly older cat as there are far too many of them needing homes rather thst kittens

So good to see someone wanting to rehome one of the older, less fortunate kitties instead of a kitten

I think if they are both good with other cats and you follow proper cat to cat introductions then they should be okay. It's a risk you take as you will never know for sure until you are in that situation. I will try and find the link to the introductions page for you

This is the link here Living Together - Introducing a New Cat

There are also a few others that people on here have used. This is one, not sure of the others.

Introducing your cat to other cats and dogs

The key is time - don't rush anything
